Clearview Township is currently seeking a permanent part-time Crossing Guard to start immediately.
The Crossing Guards of Clearview Township play an essential role in the community, ensuring the safety of children and families travelling to and from school. This rewarding opportunity will allow you to contribute to the community while maintaining a light work schedule and earning extra income.
Key Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Supervisor, By-Law Enforcement, the Crossing Guards are responsible for safely assisting children crossing the street to and from school at designated locations and times throughout the municipality, while complying with the requirements of the Highway Traffic Act and the Township’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Grade 12 Education or equivalent.
- Must be physically fit with physical strength and ability sufficient to meet job requirements.
- Able to exercise discretion and judgment to assess when to stop vehicular traffic and when it is safe to permit school children to cross.
- Able to communicate with children, pedestrians, school staff, and other staff in a clear manner.
- Able to work outside during adverse weather conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Possess 20/20 vision (with corrective lenses if needed) to observe and assess oncoming traffic from a safe distance.
- Must have reliable transportation to the crossing location.
Salary:
Currently: $23.23 per hour.
Note: The preferred candidate must be willing to provide consent for the Township to conduct a criminal background and vulnerable sector check prior to finalizing an employment offer.
