In recent years shipping/cargo containers have become popular to use for many different reasons. What you may not know is using them for purposes other than their intended use (transportation of products and raw materials between locations and countries), can pose some very serious health risks.
Safety Concerns
These containers are designed to be watertight, which means that they are well sealed with little to no ventilation and this could be potentially dangerous when used for other purposes. Vapours or gases from common flammable or combustible substances – such as aerosol cans, water heaters, paint thinner or motor oil – when combined with an ignition source in a container with little to no ventilation, can produce a catastrophic incident.
Prohibited in All Zones
Shipping/cargo containers are strictly prohibited in any zone of Clearview Township. Zoning By-law 06-54 includes provisions that restrict the placement and use of these portable structures.
