The lands where the Township of Clearview is currently situated were the ancestral lands of the Anishinaabeg, Haudenosaunee, Tionontati and Wendat peoples. We acknowledge that for decades, the First Nations, Metis and Inuit people took care of these lands, hunting and gathering, navigating the waters and creating life.
Drawn to the area because of fertile land and proximity to trade routes, European settlers began arriving in the early 1800s. Agriculture has always been the dominant industry in Clearview. The region began to develop, creating many rural settlements.
Governance structure follows that of a lower-tier municipality, which includes a Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Councillors and Council Committees. Clearview has continued to grow and evolve, working to provide effective services, improve infrastructure, and meet the demands of a growing and diverse population.
