On January 1st, 1994, Clearview Township was established by the County of Simcoe Act, 1993. Created after a municipal review, the Act amalgamated the Town of Stayner, Township of Nottawasaga, Township of Sunnidale and Village of Creemore to form the Clearview Township that we know today.
After over 2 years of consideration on the transition council, the inaugural Township of Clearview meeting was held on January 5, 1994. In January of 1994, Clearview Council started with members of the previous four Townships’ councils present.
This consisted of:
- Mayor Carol Currie (Nottawasaga Township)
- Deputy Mayor William Maynard (Stayner)
- Reeves Ralph MacDonald (Creemore) and Burnfield Wines (Sunnidale)
- Deputy Reeves John McGillivray (Sunnidale) and Robert McKee (Nottawasaga)
- Councillors included: Ursula Abbott, Henry Verstegen, William Bendell, Dave Norris (Creemore). Reta McCort, Colleen McNiven and William Patterson (Sunnidale). Jamie Adam (Nottawasaga). Robert Walker, Douglas Cripps, Janice Lafreniere, Eric Morby, Eric Townsend and June Carruthers (Stayner).
