WHEREAS, Clearview Township is a vibrant municipality of people who work together to take care of each other; and
WHEREAS, YIMBY stands for “Yes In My Back Yard,” and it is a social movement that has risen up in cities all over North America to counteract NIMBYism, or “Not In My Back Yard”; and
WHEREAS, Redwood Park Communities, founded in 2009, is leading the initiative in Simcoe County, taking a stand on and inviting us all to join in the stand for housing for all; and
WHEREAS, Everyone in Clearview Township deserves to have a safe, affordable, hopeful place to call home; and
WHEREAS, Societies where everyone can participate in and contribute to their community are more stable, resilient, prosperous, happy, and healthy; and
WHEREAS, Ending homelessness is a complex problem that can only be solved through collaborative and innovative partnerships, committed leadership, and supportive, engaged citizens; and
WHEREAS, together we will find ways to connect and empower our community to create positive changes.
THEREFORE, I Doug Measures, Mayor of the Township of Clearview, do hereby proclaim May 25-31, 2026, as “Yes In My Backyard (YIMBY) Week”.
