Starting July 27th 2026, construction work will be taking place on Mowat Street North as part of the Mowat Street North Urbanization. B&J Contracting has been hired by the developer, MacPherson Builders Limited, to complete the work. Construction is currently anticipated to begin at the Prescott Drive and Mowat Street intersection and progress south along Mowat Street North. Residents and travellers through the area will see construction equipment, dump trucks, and site crews operating.
During construction, Mowat Street North will be closed to through traffic between Weir Street and Prescott Drive and maintained for local traffic only. People who live in the area will still be able to access the street when possible. Traffic control measures and project signage will be in place throughout the duration of the work.
The order of work may change, but crews are expected to proceed with storm sewer installation, followed by road reconstruction, curb and sidewalk installation, and final paving. This work will include:
- Storm and drainage infrastructure improvements
- Road reconstruction and urbanization work
- Installation of curb, gutter, and sidewalk
- Asphalt paving and boulevard restoration
- Utility and roadway improvements
Affected Homeowners
- Traffic and Property Access: Prescott Drive will stay open when possible. Junction Road can be accessed from Grand Trunk Road. Eco Park will remain accessible from County Road 96. Access to homes will be kept open when possible. At times, some driveways may be temporarily blocked while crews complete nearby work. B&J Contracting will provide affected residents 48 hours’ notice before this happens. If you have accessibility needs and may need help getting through or around the construction area, please contact B&J Contracting.
- Waste Collection and Mail Delivery: Garbage, compost, recycling, and mail service will continue during construction. If there are any temporary changes, the contractor will provide advance notice. Please make sure your house number is clearly shown on all garbage, compost, and recycling bins.
- Other Important Information: If you live or own property in the construction area, please remove any personal items from the road allowance before work begins. This may include things such as decorations, landscaping items, or other items near the road. If you have an irrigation system, septic bed, or other private system near the road or property line, please contact B&J Contracting.
The Mowat Street North Urbanization construction is expected to be complete in October 2026.
