Labour disruption with Canada Post is possible as early as May 22, as negotiations between Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) continue after a pause in the Strike at the end of 2024.
Due to the potential mail strike, property tax bills will be sent out earlier than usual. The balance owing on these bills will not include any payments towards the May instalment. If you are unsure of the balance on your account, please contact Property Tax Services at tax@clearview.ca or 705-428-6230 x 227. Failure to receive bills (property taxes, utilities, etc.) via regular mail does not absolve the responsibility to remit payment by the due date.
While an agreement may be reached to avoid disruption, we are advising residents that a Canada Post strike could impact Township services, such as receiving property tax or utility bill payments by mail, planning application notices, or other mailed services.
Below are options to consider should a Canada Post strike occur:
Payment & billing options during a strike
- Pre-Authorized payment plan
- Online banking
- At your financial institution
- In-person at the Administration Centre during regular business hours
- Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Notices for Planning Applications during a strike
Notices for Planning Act applications, such as consents and minor variances, are normally sent to neighbouring properties by regular mail. In the event of a postal strike, these notices will be posted on the Township of Clearview website.
