As part of Fire Prevention Week, two new Clearview Township Fire Chiefs will be sworn in Thursday, October 10, 2019, but just for the day.
Children attending a Clearview Elementary School from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 4 were eligible to win the contest to become a Fire Chief for the Day. Colouring contest sheets, which ask students to review smoke alarm and home escape plan safety, were circulated to all Clearview Elementary Schools during the week of September 3rd. The contest winners are randomly drawn from all submitted entries.
The winners will be picked up at their home in a fire truck and will be sworn into office by Mayor Doug Measures.
“Clearview Fire and Emergency Services have developed this contest to encourage young children to think about smoke alarm and home escape plan safety,” explained Fire Chief Roree Payment. “The bonus is that the two winners will get to experience all of the excitement of being involved with the Fire Department.”
The new Fire Chiefs will be available for photos with Fire Chief Roree Payment, Sparky the Fire Dog, and a Clearview Township Fire Truck at Clearview Fire Station 1, 6993 Highway 26 in Stayner at 11 am on October 10, 2019.
