The Stayner Centennial Pool is preparing to reopen for limited use with registered programs and swimming lessons on July 5th, 2021 as Ontario is set to enter Step 2 of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen

Clearview Parks, Culture and Recreation Department staff have been working through challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, closures, public health regulations, Lifeguard certification and staffing shortages, to create a state of readiness that will allow the pool to reopen for the summer.

Although the province has yet to release the Step 2 regulations, staff have been following the lead of the Lifesaving Society to anticipate protocols and requirements and begin the reopening process Terry Vachon, General Manager of Parks, Culture and Recreation explains, “staff have been working diligently to provide the citizens of Clearview an opportunity to utilize the outdoor pool this summer, in a capacity that both meets health unit regulations and prepares us to pivot as new regulations are provided”.

At this time the Stayner Centennial pool will operate with strict COVID-19 public health regulations in effect including capacity limits, contact tracing and physical distancing. The pool will offer registered swimming lessons, Aquafit and a Junior Lifeguard program sponsored by the Clearview Youth Centre and free for Clearview Youth.

“We are very excited to launch the new Junior Lifeguard Club sponsored by the Clearview Youth Centre and free for Clearview Youth, to help increase skill development and encourage future lifeguard training experiences,” said Amanda Murray, Community Culture & Tourism Coordinator.
