News Release - Single Positive Case at Stayner Care Centre

Date Published:
June 26 2020

On June 18, 2020, one staff member at the privately owned Stayner Care Centre, tested positive for COVID-19. Under the current Public Health guidelines, one positive case of either a staff member or resident requires long-term care homes to declare an outbreak for the facility. An outbreak was then declared.

The Stayner Care Centre is working closely with Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit staff to monitor the situation and ensure all outbreak precautions are in place. All staff and residents have been tested for COVID-19 and all tests have come back negative. Staff continue to wear personal protective equipment at all times and everyone entering the building continues to be screened.

Please join us in extending your support and respect to the staff at the Centre and all healthcare workers in our community who have been working on the front lines and keeping us safe during these times.

The SMDHU Health Connection team is available if you have questions about COVID-19, www.simcoemuskokahealth.org/HealthUnit/About/Contact/ContactHealthConnection. Please continue to follow the advice of the health unit. Stay home if you’re unwell, wash your hands often, practice safe hygiene by coughing or sneezing into your sleeve or a tissue, and maintain physical distance with people outside of your social circle. We are all in this together.
