As part of the federal-provincial Safe Restart Agreement, the Ontario Government announced on August 12, 2020, that phase one of the emergency funding is being released to all Ontario municipalities. The one-time assistance will be released in the fall to help support operating pressures related to COVID-19.
The funds will be split between upper and lower-tier municipalities and allocated on a per household basis. The assistance payment is conditional upon the needs of the municipality, with detailed reporting on its use to be provided to the Ontario Government in March 2021.
In a letter from Minister of Municipal Affairs and Funding, Steve Clark to Clearview Mayor Doug Measures it was announced that Clearview Township will receive a payment of $382,100 to address COVID-19 operating costs and pressures and support local needs.
Mayor Measures is thankful for the relief funding, “I am pleased to receive these letters from the Provincial Government. On behalf of the members of council and our community, I wish to thank Premier Ford and the cabinet ministers that have worked closely with the Federal Government to secure this COVID relief funding”.
