At a Special Emergency Meeting of Council on April 22, 2020, Clearview Council voted to establish the 2020 Clearview COVID-19 Community Assistance Fund (CCCAF) to help provide relief to those in Clearview impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
“The creation of the 2020 Clearview COVID-19 Community Assistance Fund is intended to provide temporary or emergency financial assistance to community organizations in order to help the most vulnerable in our community.” Said Mayor Doug Measures.
The fund has been established initially with $10,000 and is set up to receive public donations. Further to the establishment of the CCCAF, Council also committed to match any donations made dollar-for-dollar up to an additional $10,000.
“Council are very pleased to contribute to maintaining assistance services in our community and to ensure the safety of our residents in need during these extraordinary times. The COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented global health crisis that may bring significant consequences and challenges in terms of social solidarity. Clearview is grateful for those in our community that can contribute to the CCCAF as every dollar will go towards helping residents impacted by this crisis.” Said Mayor Measures.
Requests for assistance will be reviewed by The Clearview COVID-19 Community Assistance Fund Committee and ultimately voted on by Clearview Council in an open vote. The CCCAF Committee is made up of Deputy Mayor Burton, and Councillor Leishman with staff support from Deputy Clerk Brenda Falls.
