Bells of Peace

On November 11, at the going down of the sun, communities across Canada will mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War with the ringing of 100 bells. The ringing of bells emulates the moment in 1918 when church bells across Europe tolled as four years of war had come to an end. Veteran's Affairs has asked churches across Canada to ring the "Bells of Peace". Let us never forget.

Jubilee Presbyterian Churcn on Highway 26 in Stayner will be hosting a service for the community to commemorate this event. It will start at 4:30PM and include 100 tolls of our chimes at 4:53PM-sundown and then, at the end of the service all the local churches will ring them out spontaneously as they would have been heard when peace was declared. Everyone is welcome!

Brentwood Community Centre ringing of the bells will be conducted by the New Lowell Legion at 6:00PM.

St. Luke's Anglican Church and St. John's United Church in Creemore will both ring the bells. Everyone is welcome! Piper Tim Armour will be playing 'Amazing Grace' in the distance between both churches.
