Welcome to the Township of Clearview's Official Plan Review
Here you will find more information about the Township’s Official Plan Review process and ways you can provide us with your input on these important issues.
The Township is facing significant growth pressures and we need your input to determine a vision for our future!
The first phase of this exercise was the development of a Growth Plan.
Why Do We Need a Growth Plan? The Township is preparing a new Official Plan to guide growth and development for the next 25 years. As the first phase of developing a vision for our future, we must decide about how much we want our communities to grow.
The County Growth forecast anticipates that we will have 11,400 more people in our community by 2031. This means an average growth rate of approximately twice our historic rate of growth.
Current development applications however have the potential to add an additional 22,400 people to this amount.
After a series of public meetings Council adopted "Directions for Growth: A Growth Plan for Clearview 2009-2031".
Additional Background Information
- Summary of Public Input (January 19, 2009) - Staff Report (February 9, 2009) - Land Budget - Council Resolution (February 18, 2009) - Council Resolution Regarding Directions for Growth (June 22, 2009)
What’s Next?
We have recently completed a series of public meetings to obtain input on a growth plan for Clearview. With Council’s established direction on growth and the management of such growth, the public will be invited to provide further input at Public meetings on our new Official Plan. These are expected to occur later this year and in early 2010.
In this next step, the Township will be developing our new Official Plan which is mandated by Provincial legislation to take place every five (5) years. While staff has conducted a review of the document to assess conformity with new Provincial and County Planning documents, public input is essential to developing the vision for the Township for the next 20 years.
As part of the Official Plan Review, staff will be drafting standards and requirements for development that will include:
§ Study Requirements for New Developments; § Servicing Requirements; § Community Plans; § Design Guidelines; § Architectural Controls; § Environmental Sustainability Plans; Additionally, staff will be reviewing planning policies for commercial and industrial development, open space, agricultural and greenlands as well as researching new and innovative technologies and approaches to building and planning design.
