pool photoLooking for something to do on those hot summer days? Enjoy Clearview’s very own heated outdoor pool. Open from the end of June until August 29th, 2016, the pool offers public swims, swimming lessons, aquafit, and more.

Swim Lessons


Clearview is pleased to offer comprehensive swimming lessons similar to our local YMCAs. This allows continuity in programming throughout the year. We offer Bubblers, Learn to Swim and Star Swimmer programs. Advanced aquatics programs may be offered if numbers permit, such as Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross. In general, classes may be combined or cancelled depending on enrollment.

Lesson Descriptions


  AGECLASS MILESTONES 

BUBLERS is a value-based water activity program for children 5 and under. Children in the infant to 3 year categories must be accompanied by an adult. Children 3 to 5 years of age may participate alone or with an adult.


WATER BABIES
0 to 3 yrs

JR, SR AND SUPPER BUBBLERS
3 TO 5 yrs

basic water skills, entering and exiting the water, blowing bubbles and floating

water safety awareness, entering and exiting water safely, blowing bubbles and bobbing, front and back floats, glides, front and back swim

LEARN TO SWIM -The Learn to Swim program is a four-level instructional program that teaches the non-swimmer a variety of skills in shallow and deep water, including the fundamentals of the front crawl stroke.

introduction to pool safety, front and back floats and glides, blowing bubbles and front and back swim for 5 meters

introduction to deep water, floats with rollovers, breathing to the side, front and back glides and swim for 10 metres

Information on flotation devices, treading water, front and back glides for 15 metres, 25 metre swim and an introduction to front crawl

Skills include introduction to resuscitation, dives in deep water, and front and back swim for 50 meters.
STAR LEVELS-The Star Swimmer Program introduces the swimmer to a wide variety of swimming and water activity skills with water safety education and awareness a component of all instructional levels.

Rookie Patrol first aid, front and back crawl for 50 metres and elementary backstroke

Rookie H2O Proficiency skills, treading water, sculling, front and back crawl for 50 metres, elementary backstroke for 25 metres and breaststroke

eggbeater kick, Rookie Recognition and Rescue, breaststroke for 25 metres and a 300 metre continuous swim

ice safety, hypothermia, starts and turns, sidestroke and a 400 metre continuous swim

boating safety and self rescue, introduction to butterfly, and a 500 metre continuous swim

first aid and victim rescue skills, 600 metre continuous swim, introduction to waltz crawl, inverted breaststroke and double-over-arm breaststroke.
BRONZE MEDALLION/ BRONZECROSSBRONZE MEDALLION BRONZECROSSThese courses introduce lifesaving skills and are requirement for certification as a lifeguard. Participants must be 13 years old to enroll in bronze Medallion, 14 years old to enroll in Bronze Cross with Bronze Medallion as a prerequisite.

Our Staff Are Here To Help You 

Help us create a safe, fun and supportive environment for you, your child and our staff. Please direct any questions or concerns during swim lessons to the deck supervisor. They are the link between you and your child's instructor.  

Pool Admission Standards 

  • Children under 6 years of age, or any non-swimmer, will not be permitted in the pool without a parent or guardian who is at least twelve years of age and responsible for their direct supervision.
  • Children under the age of ten who are swimmers (able to demonstrate comfort in the water and pass facility swim test) may be admitted to the swimming pool unaccompanied.
  • Infants and those not toilet trained must wear a waterproof diaper while in the pool.
