Notice- Fire Chief for the Day

As part of Fire Prevention Week, two new Clearview Township Fire Chiefs will be sworn in Thursday, October 12, 2017, but just for the day.

Children attending a Clearview Elementary School from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 4 were eligible to win the contest to become a Fire Chief for the Day. Colouring contest sheets, which ask students to review smoke alarm and home escape plan safety, were circulated to all Clearview Elementary Schools during the week of August 29th. The contest winners will be drawn randomly from all submitted entries.

The winners will be picked up at their home in a fire truck and will be sworn into office by Mayor Vanderkruys.

“Clearview Fire and Emergency Service developed this contest to encourage children to think about smoke alarms and home escape plan safety,” explained Fire Chief Colin Shewell. “The bonus is that the two winners will get to experience all of the excitement of being involved with the fire department.”

The new Fire Chiefs will be available for photos with Fire Chief Colin Shewell, Sparky the Fire Dog, and a Clearview Township Fire Truck at Clearview Fire Station 1, 6993 Highway 26 in Stayner at 11am on October 12, 2017.
