Notice- Fire Chief for the Day

As part of Fire Prevention Week, two new Fire Chiefs will be sworn in for Clearview Township on Thursday, October 8, 2015 but just for the day.

Children attending a Clearview Elementary School from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 4 were eligible to win the contest to become a Fire Chief for the Day. Colouring contest sheets, which ask students to review smoke alarm safety, were circulated to all Clearview Elementary Schools during the week of August 31st. The contest winners will be drawn randomly from all submitted entries.

The winners of the 2015 Fire Chiefs for the Day contest will be picked up at their home in a fire truck and will be sworn into office by Mayor Vanderkruys.

“Clearview Fire and Emergency Service has developed this contest to encourage young children to think about smoke alarm safety,” stated Fire Chief Colin Shewell. “The bonus is that the two winners will get to experience all of the excitement of being involved with the fire department.”

The Fire Chiefs for the Day will be available for photos with Fire Chief Colin Shewell, Deputy Chief Roree Payment, Sparky the Fire Dog, and a Clearview Township Fire Truck at Clearview Fire Station 1, 6993 Highway 26 in Stayner at 11:00 am on October 8, 2015.
