CLEARVIEW – As part of Fire Prevention Week, two new Fire Chiefs will be sworn in for Clearview Township on Thursday, October 9, 2014 but just for the day.

Children attending a Clearview Elementary School from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 4 were eligible to win the contest to become a Fire Chief for the Day.  Colouring contest sheets, were circulated to all Clearview Elementary Schools during the week of September 20th.  The contest winners were drawn randomly from all submitted entries.

The winners of the 2014 Fire Chiefs for the Day will be picked up at their schools in a fire truck and will be sworn into office by Mayor Ken Ferguson. The contest winners will also receive a personalized tour of Clearview Fire Station One with Fire Chief Colin Shewell.

“Clearview Fire and Emergency Service has developed this contest to encourage young children to think about preventing fires in their homes,” stated Fire Chief Colin Shewell, “The bonus is that the two winners will get to experience all of the excitement of firefighting and emergency services.”
